HANWHA L & C CANADA BUILDING
$70 MILLION PLANT IN LONDON

LONDON, ON - Hanwha L & C Canada Inc. has located a manufacturing facility in London, Ontario to produce HanStone Fine Quartz Surfaces for residential and commercial applications. The $70 million 200,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility will be located in Innovation Park and will create 150 jobs when fully operational early next year. Hanwha Group is a global Fortune 500 company and is the 5th largest industrial conglomerate based in Seoul Korea. It operates in the plastics, industrial materials, automotive parts and chemical industries.

BARLOW NAMED ASME PRESIDENT
NEW YORK, NY - Thomas Barlow, who retired in 2000 after a 40-year career at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, has been named president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), effective June 2008.

SNC-LAVALIN ACQUIRES DTI TELECOM

MONTREAL, QC - SNC-Lavalin announced the acquisition of DTI Telecom Inc. (DTI), a Montreal engineering and consulting company of 65 professionals specializing in telecommunications. Over the past 35 years, DTI has developed expertise in designing the kinds of telecommunications systems and networks used in the cable TV, electricity, transportation and public security sectors.

SCHULMAN CLOSING ON NOVEMBER 30

ST. THOMAS, ON - Plastic manufacturer A. Schulman Inc. is shutting its doors on Nov. 30, with the loss of 120 jobs. The St. Thomas plant turns raw material, such as resins, into a finished colored plastic. About 80% of its plastic is shipped to auto parts plants to make products such as dashboards and side panels primarily for Ford, Chrysler and GM. A. Schulman is headquartered in Akron, Ohio.
